Refill Requests & Outside Store Policy

We understand that there are many reasons clients may choose to purchase or refill products and specialty diets from an outside or online store. We respect your right to choose where you obtain your pet’s supplies and are happy to accommodate those requests while ensuring you are fully informed.

Our Recommendation

For your pet's safety, we strongly recommend purchasing refills and specialty diets through:
  • In-house through our hospital
  • Our veterinary-approved online store (VetSource)
  • A properly accredited brick-and-mortar store
These sources maintain manufacturer-approved supply chains, appropriate storage conditions, and product guarantees.

Outside & Online Stores

Refill requests submitted through third-party or outside stores may be processed electronically but will not receive priority. Refill requests filled in-house or through our trusted online store will be prioritized for review and processing.

Important Information & Acknowledgment of Risk

When refills or specialty diets are obtained through non-veterinary approved online stores, several risks may exist, including but not limited to:
  • Products that may be counterfeit, improperly sourced, or not FDA/USDA/EPA approved
  • Supplies or foods may be stored in unsafe temperature conditions, reducing effectiveness or increasing toxicity
  • Refills filled incorrectly (wrong drug, dose, quantity, or formulation)
  • Automatic refills issued without veterinary authorization
  • Delayed delivery of time-sensitive supplies
Manufacturers guarantee their products when they are dispensed through veterinary hospitals or veterinary-approved stores. Products purchased outside of this often do not come with the valuable guarantees meant to protect your pets.

Clinic Liability & Client Responsibility

By requesting a refill to be filled through a non-approved online or outside store, you acknowledge and agree that:
  • Saratoga Veterinary Hospital is not responsible for the quality, effectiveness, delivery time, storage conditions, or accuracy of products obtained from these sources
  • Our medical records and reminder systems may not reflect refills dispensed outside our clinic
  • Saratoga Veterinary Hospital is not financially responsible for treatment, adverse reactions, lack of effectiveness, or outcomes related to products purchased from non-approved sources
  • In the absence of negligence, you agree to hold Saratoga Veterinary Hospital harmless for any adverse effects, illness, or death related to these products
